Inspired by yesterday’s post, I have decided to do a short series based on the topic of PR and bloggers. In the next couple of days I will be having a guest post by David Wescott at It’s Not a Lecture, I will be doing an update post on the email I got back from the missing DVD PR guy, and finally I’d like to touch down on what you think about paid reviews.

It should be a fun weekend, so stay tuned! 😉

I’ve been following various bloggers’ PR experiences with great interest (and not just because I work in advertising myself). Occasionally a company offers me something and I’ll usually take it if it’s something I’m interested in or would make a good giveaway for my readers. I don’t have advertising on my blog, so there’s no real conflict for me.

However, I have had your experience of having been offered stuff that I agreed to take and review, only to have the items never show up. It’s only happened once, but it seems like extremely poor follow-up that the client wouldn’t appreciate if they knew about it.

All too familiar with what you describe. For every one PR rep we’re able to “convert” at PBN, there are nine who balk. As for what’s sent to me at MGM – I might respond to one in fifty.

My time is valuable – not just where it comes to reviewing products, but even reading email pitches. The same is true for all of us. Make it worth our while.

(And a shout-out to David, who is someone who really REALLY gets it.)
