Moodwingingmommy was kind enough to include me in her interviews, I think she is practicing to be the next Barbara Walters! 😀

1. Why did you decide to start a blog?

I’ve been blogging since I really even knew what blogging was. I started 4+ years ago posting updates on a personal website for family, and from there kept journals, first on Livejournal, then Myspace, now WordPress. I’m not one for pen and paper journals, but blogging online is like second nature to me.

2. How do you balance the demands of motherhood with blogging?

I think moms make the perfect bloggers. Blogging is not something you have to do daily, and you can do it on your own time. I don’t sit down and say “Hmm, what am I going to write about now?”. Events in my life happen, and I am mentally composing my post before I ever sit down at the laptop. Kids and marriage make for the best subject material!

3. What is your top pet peeve?

Besides my kids? 😉  I have quite a few and rotate them depending on the day. I hate doing laundry, I can’t stand bad drivers, I wish death on people who don’t use carseats for their kids properly, and I’m ready to stage a protest Trinny and Susannah are no longer on BBC’s “What Not to Wear”.

4. What is one thing about yourself that you are trying to change?

I’ve been on a biiiggg crusade this year to make myself over. I’m working on spending more time and energy on myself, both physically and in terms of finding out what makes me happy. I’m wearing makeup daily, dressing nicer, and overall trying to become more “woman and wife” than just “mom”. It’s so easy to lose yourself when the kids are little, but our job is to raise them well and then send them out into the world. We have to have something left of ourselves to avoid looking around the empty nest and going “Now what???”.

5. How do you unwind when the stress of daily life gets to you?

We have a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, and my favorite thing is to bring my laptop into the bathroom, start up iTunes, and listen to audio books or just some good music while I soak. We used to have a hot tub I loved using, but it was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina (that bitch!)  and we never replaced it.

Thanks so much again for picking me, and I am now sending them along to a couple other friends to answer!

Thanks for the compliment! Doesn’t Barbara always ask the questions everyone wants to hear the answers to? I bet I didn’t make you cry though, did I?

Great answers, especially to # 4! I think a lot of us could stand to follow in your example and reclaim some of our woman/wife identity.

There really is no better material than kids and marriage, is there?

We could all do better at what you describe in your answer to #4 – I just had that conversation with DH recently – about how we’ll be when it’s just him and me again! – And after the day I’ve had? boy what I wouldn’t do for your jacuzzi tub right now lol!

Ehh, don’t think I’m claiming to be an expert on the #4 thing yet, its still a work in progress!

Thanks so much again for the questions!!

Awesome! I started out at livejournal, too. I still keep a journal over there, and for the most part crosspost in it. I have a Myspace, too. A girl can never have too many blogs, right?

We have a garden tub in the master bath, and my favorite way to unwind is a hot bubble bath. With champagne and a good book 🙂
