I know its typical to start off the new year by making a bunch of promises. We know we have no intention of keeping them, but darn it, it sure sounds good on paper. And hey, it’s good to have goals right? This year however, I’m going to try to do it a little differently. I’m not going to set impossible goals, or say I’m going to do things I have no desire to do. So here is my list of 2007 New Years Resolutions.
1. Take Better Care of Myself. This would normally not even make my list, it seems an obvious thing to do. But if you are a mom, you know how it becomes second nature to put yourself last in everything. Last one to eat, last one to sleep, last one to shower, and really its a good day if you can even manage to do all three of those in a 24 hour period. The Triple Crown of Motherhood if you will. But why?? Why should I have to put off basic things like eating or showering just to make sure everyone else in my house is happy? Enough is enough. I can’t give 100% to my family if I am only running on fumes myself.
2. Blog More. Blogging for me is not just entertainment for my friends, but a good source of therapy for myself. My new goal is at least 5 posts a week.
3. Get Back on Flylady. If you have every used the Flylady system of housekeeping you know it rocks for those of us who are not Born Organized. If you haven’t, look for a book called ‘Sink Reflections’ next time you are at Barnes and Noble. It works wonderfully, and I love it when I am motivated enough to do it.
4. Go to the Gym. After 3 years of bugging about it, my husband finally decided I was serious and got me a gym membership for Christmas. If I don’t use it at least twice a week I will hear about it for the next 3 years I’m sure. I have friends who go to this one, so I’m hoping the peer pressure will work out for me. VS still isn’t carrying the ass bra yet, so something has to be done.
