A Little Holiday Silliness

You Are Vixen

Sexy and sultry, you’re the one all the other reindeer dream about.
Why You’re Naughty: That fur pulling spat you got into with Dancer over Santa.

Why You’re Nice: Because even when you’re nice, you’re still delightfully naughty!

Better in Theory Than in Practice.

I am ready for Christmas!!!!
Well, almost.

I’m done shopping for the kids. But then there are the gifts for my family, which I kinda don’t count since they will be ordered online and I don’t want them to get there too early.

But then I also just realized I haven’t gotten teacher gift for the kids teachers.

And then there are Christmas cards. As much as I dread writing them I love sending them, so my list is pretty long this year.
Wait, I don’t think I’ve even bought my cards yet. And the picture that will go in them? Well, lets say taking the pic is on the to-do list for this week. Why have I not done it yet? Oh thats right, I still have to run for Target for a couple accessories. And I was going to take them in front of the tree. Which isn’t up yet.

How is it I have run around like a chicken with its head cut off and still haven’t accomplished a darn thing??

I Heard There Was Turkey…

If this weekend was any indication of how the holiday season is going to be, I think we maybe should re-think Christmas this year. Grab a glass of eggnog and spike it good, this is going to be a long one.

I woke up Wednesday thinking death was upon me. Fever, aches, chills, cough- it was bad. I put out an SOS on my playgroup board and a very kind soul volunteered to take my kids for the day. I dropped them off, came back, and crashed into bed. I slept the entire day. Got up for about 2 hours, picked up the kids, and back to bed for the night not long after.
When the ex could barely drag me out of bed Thursday I knew I had to do something. He was getting mad at me thinking I was being lazy and just not wanting to help with anything, so after trying unsuccessfully to explain to him how sick I was, I finally just left and drove myself to the ER. Sent him a text message telling him where I was going and I’d call him later. I got there, got checked in, and they sent me down for a chest x-ray immediately. Then I waited…and waited…and waited. I was taken back to a room 6 hours later and 2 hours after that finally saw a Dr. I asked him about the x-ray and it seemed that was news to him. They did a flu test(negative) and the nurse let me know based on that they decided it was an upper respiratory infection and they were sending me home with antibiotics and the prescription equivalent of Robitussin. No blood work, no treatment for dehydration even though I know I needed it at that point. See ya, enjoy the remains of your Thanksgiving.

So ya, crappy ER visit. I knew they were wrong. URI is sort of a generic term for having a cold or some other viral thing. This was NOT a cold. I still had chest pain, trouble breathing, and a 2-pack a day cough. I spent the rest of the weekend miserable.

Fast forward to today. DR appt at 3pm. I had a feeling what would be said, and I wasn’t wrong. I have pneumonia. Not a cold, not some unknown viral thing. The pisser of it all is my Dr didn’t even have to do a chest x-ray in the office. He just pulled the report from the one they did at the hospital Thursday. Yeah, the one the ER doc didn’t even know they had done? The one that went ignored even after I reminded him? Mmm-hmmm. That one. They could have diagnosed this and saved me a hell of an uncomfortable weekend had they just looked at their own f’ing x-ray. So my wonderful Dr prescribed me a high dose of anti-inflammatory stuff and some really good cough medicine, and I hope to be over this crap by next weekend.

Speaking of next weekend, we are doing our own Thanksgiving dinner here Saturday. A little late, but better late than never. Lets just hope Christmas is a little less eventful!
